The Chinese Club member Mr. Charles Cheung received on behalf of the Port Vila Chinese Club the BSP sponsorship towards the Chinese New Year dinner which was held on Wednesday 10th February at the Chinese Club house.
Bank South Pacific sponsored the dinner to the value of One hundred and Seventy - Five Thousand Vatu towards the dinner and provided branded BSP red envelopes to be used during the 15-day festive period.
"This year's turnout was one of the biggest event due to travel restrictions imposed as a result of Covid'19. It is one of the most important holidays in China and it is great to see everyone whom you normally don't see in another year welcome the New Year", said Mr Cheung.
BSP Vanuatu Country Head, Nik Regenvanu said "BSP is very proud to assist and support the celebration of The Year of the Ox. We embrace and value the communities in which BSP operates in and as part of the community, we will continue to support and assist where needed."
The dinner brought together a lot of people from the international community that are living in Port Vila. It was an evening well spent with the Chinese people living in Port Vila, BSP Staff and non-Chinese community who had come together to celebrate the Chinese New Year at Port Vila Chinese Club.
The evening started with a traditional Chinese custom ritual to welcome guests and welcome the New Year with speeches, fireworks, traditional Chinese dishes and dragon dancing, topped off with cultural dances.
Everyone had a pleasant evening welcoming 2021 in a traditional Chinese style.
