BSP announces 1m vatu donation towards the aftermath of TC Harold
Bank South Pacific announced a 1million vatu donation to "Big Heart Island Vanuatu" charity for assistance towards the impacts of cyclone TC Harold recently.
Formed after Cyclone Pam in 2015, "Big Heart Island Vanuatu" has been assisting any communities from across the six provinces in Vanuatu that require assistance in forms of evacuations from natural disasters and distress. The charity group uses the funds donated to purchase local healthy food & supplies and distribute directly to the impacted victims.
BSP Vanuatu Country Head Nik Regenvanu said: "BSP is very proud to assist and support the charity, to work with the communities that have been impacted by TC Harold. We value our community in which BSP operates in and will continue to support and assist where needed."
Maymumi Green, a member of the Big Heart Island Vanuatu Charity thanked BSP for the generous donation towards the affected communities. She said: "we are very pleased with this donation as we are receiving requests from the community and the funds received are used to purchase what the community really needs at the present time. All funds used are transparent and updated on our Facebook page. BSP Vanuatu, thank you for making the contribution."
BSP is reminding its customers to practice social distancing in light of the current COVID-19 situation and TC Harold recovery. "Use the Digital Banking platforms where possible, " said Regenvanu
