Championing Prosperity for the South Pacific

BSP’s refreshed identity reflects our commitment to the people of the South Pacific, our heritage and the future we envisage built on a shared prosperity. We honour our story that began in 1957 in Papua New Guinea and the commitment and support we have received from our people to evolve into a bank that spread across the South Pacific.

Our journey is built on commitment and the enduring spirit of our people that is fostered by the threads of the past, present and the vision we all share for our future.

Embarking on a shared journey

Our brand identity

Grounded in the roots of the past and hero-ing the Kundu drum, our refreshed identity has been shaped with contributions from our customers and staff across the bank. Prior to embarking on this journey, BSP conducted extensive research across the South Pacific to better understand the perceptions, experiences, and future needs of the region.

The refreshed identity – a stylised kundu, reflects the unique elements of the South Pacific that help tell our story:

BSP retains the green colour that has always identified us, but it has evolved into a modern version that reflects our attitude and forward vision.

Showcasing our refreshed identity – a stylised kundu with unique elements that tell our story.

Our Patterns

The journey to create our identity respects and celebrates the cultures of our seven South Pacific countries. We collaborated with artists and designers from each country to develop five distinct pattern tiles, each representing the principles of growth, aspiration, care, prosperity, and journey. These tiles combine to give each country its own recognisable pattern.

As we expand to the broader region, these individual tiles unite to form a Pasifika pattern, telling the story of the South Pacific and BSP. We honour and thank our artists and designers for creating our unique patterns and storyboard.

Our anthem

Our BSP anthem captures the heart, spirit, and voices of the Pasifika people. We have been honoured to work with Dr Igelese Ete, Mereani Messani, and the BSP Choir to create this emotive piece. The music and lyrics speak to the 1000 tribes that make up our ocean nations as well as our mission to champion a shared prosperity for the South Pacific.

The BSP Choir is made up of BSP staff members from across each of our territories. They feature in the music video and sing proudly, representing their country in their national dress. We thank each one of you for being part of this journey to create a piece of music that represents all of us.

Final Words

The revitalisation of our BSP brand has been a journey of over 16 months. This journey has been undertaken with respect to our past and our history where the Kundu is honoured and remains part of our identity as part of our new pattern storyboards. The Kundu is as significant today as it has been in the past as it signifies our journey, but as we look forward and reflect on who we have become, we have realised the need to encompass all our stories.

We do move to the beat of opportunity; we do wear the mark of our ancestors on our, skin; we do span oceans and generations; we do weave the patterns of yesterday into the ideas of today; we do respect the past, to innovate for the future; together we move to the beat of the future; we are BSP and our stories are yours.

Together we are BSP, championing prosperity for each one of us.
