BSP Donates Water Tank and Hand-washing Station

"For their 2020 Community Project, our Pacific Harbour branch choose to provide a water tank and 3 hand washing stations at their local Police Post," she confirmed.  "In all our projects, staff are required to contribute sweat equity by clocking volunteer hours and I am proud that our Pacific Harbour branch staff did the same here."

The Divisional Police Commander Southern ASP Vilimoni Komairasea acknowledged the support of the Green Bank over the years and commended BSP for this latest initiative.

"We salute BSP for this initiative to support the Government of Fiji in resourcing our Police Posts.  You have stepped up to remind us that the Fiji Police is not alone in our fight against crime," he said.

Last month, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts, with support from private sector partners celebrated Global Handwashing Day to highlight the importance of proper handwashing in the fight against COVID-19 and to strengthen the awareness that proper hand hygiene practices can prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid, conjunctivitis and more. This is even more critical for the Serua/Namosi district which has battled these health risks for some time now.

"This BSP funded handwashing station is our way of supporting this great effort and we congratulate the ongoing efforts by Government agencies and partner organisations," added Ms Mani.  "We trust that the facilities will be well utilised by the officers as well as all those visiting the PoIice Post to keep away the infectious diseases.  I also recognise the close working relationship we and other businesses have with the local officers.

BSP Community Projects continue to be implemented by branches across the country.  They range from enhancing the quality of education for students, renovation of a health centre and a nursing station among others which are in progress.
